Ellingham & Ringwood withstood a barrage of attacks throughout the second half to finally get the better of Trojans in London 3 South-West.
The Es looked to be heading for a healthy lead over the first 40 minutes but had to be content with a ten-point advantage after Trojans’ second row Tom Magill and hooker Dave Strange had replied to tries from wing Ali Bennett, captain Duncan Sodden and Charlie Cockram, along with five points from kicker Bennett.
Trojans totally dominated the second half but the home side’s defence held firm until five minutes from time when prop Mark Greenhalgh crashed over.
Ellingham & Ringwood were left clinging to their slender lead and, after some desperate defending, made it through to the final whistle with a 20-15 scoreline.
