WINCHESTER suffered their first league defeat since November when they went down to KCS.

Their strict work ethic couldn't save them from a 21-18 loss.

An early Andy Ashwin penalty was soon cancelled out as some poor home indecision let the visitors steadily take over.

Late in the first half Simon Farrington touched down twice to give the home team a 15-14 lead but it proved a false dawn as KCS soon fought back and scored the try to seal victory.

Tottonians notched their first league win of the year as Richard Buck scored the only try of the game after chasing a kick ahead to touch down.

Robbie Searle converted and kicked two penalties as Totts did just enough in a scrappy game against Old Mid-Whitgiftians.

Portsmouth came home with the spoils after a frantic London 1 league game on a very wet Hayward's Heath pitch.

On five minutes Matt Gronow broke and put Ofusia in for Styles to convert.

Minutes later Asenev broke from a quick 22. Play was held up on the half-way line but nice ruck gained more momentum prior to Ofusia touching down again.

In the second half Ofusia got on the end of a kick for the corner to complete his hat-trick.

Another Matt Gronow score at the death clinched a great away win, a really hard earned result' according to coach Nigel Morgan.

Gosport & Fareham's dismal away form continued in London 3 South-West as they went down 24-6 to Effingham & Leatherhead.

"In the first 15 minutes we played well. We looked the better side and things were looking bright," said coach Simon Ansell.

"On 15 minutes their big forwards began to maul well and really closed us out of the game.

"They took their opportunities and we didn't have any to take. This result leaves us at the bottom so we now have to regroup and play each game as it comes."

Sandown & Shanklin struck a late Neil Buckingham drop goal to snatch the London 4 South-West points from visitors Warlingham.

Early play was in the middle of the park with neither side able to break down the defence.

An early Warlingham penalty was wiped out by fullback Buckinham.

Hurricanes began to up the pressure but some good defensive cover enabled the visitors to clear the ball upfield.

Another long-range penalty could have set the home side crumbling but they displayed sound composure to work their way back upfield.

Good work from captain Ross Edmunds saw him smash through the line to off-load in the tackle to San Rees, who went open to score unopposed and make it 10-6 at half-time.

Within minutes of the restart, the visitors struck back from some good rucking phases which led to them setting the ball wide to score. And minutes later another strong run saw the home team 18-10 down.

Buckingham notched another penalty to narrow the gap but the Warlingham number eight charged over to make it 23-13.

The visitors began to give away penalties, however, which allowed Buckingham to kick Hurricanes back into the game.

With only seconds left, Sandown won a scrummage just inside the visitors' half to feed Buckingham, and he landed an enormous drop goal.
