Mike Golding is tantalisingly close to fifth place as his Vendee Globe battle with Jean Le Cam continues.
The Southampton yachtsman is nearing the end of his third Vendee Globe, approximately 1220 nautical miles from the finish and just 22 behind nearest rival Jean Le Cam, who pipped him to second place eight years ago.
Earlier this morning, on his 83rd day at sea, he said: "This has been some of the best sailing, the best racing I have had.
"I’d love to say I’m enjoying it but to be honest I just want to get in and get finished. I have pretty much run out of everything. I have food left but there are none of the niceties that make it work, however, I have enough calories.
"Our ETA is a bit variable at the moment, depending on how much of a stoppage we get.”
