AN all-woman ocean racing team led by Hampshire sailors Sam Davies and Dee Caffari is halfway through its first major test – a 3,500-mile sprint across the Atlantic.
Team SCA, skippered by Hamble’s Davies, pictured, undertook the training sail from their base in Lanzarote to Newport, Rhode Island, ahead of the start of the Volvo Ocean Race in October.
The team is the 40,000-mile race's first all-woman crew in more than 10 years.
Last night the 10-strong crew had sailed around 2,000 miles with another 1,500 still remaining.
