INSPIRATIONAL teen Natasha Lambert is on top of the world – literally – after completing an epic fundraising challenge.
The 17-year-old, who suffers from cerebral palsy, sailed more than 400 miles singlehanded before scaling the highest peak in south Wales.
In so doing, Natasha, who is confined to a wheelchair, has raised a whopping £11,000 for charity.
The challenge was the latest in a line of fundraising events the Isle of Wight teenager has undertaken including sailing solo round the Island and across the Channel.
She set off from Cowes on July 24 on her specially-engineered boat Miss Isle, which she steers using state-of-the-art sip and puff technology.
The boat is controlled using a straw coming from Natasha’s helmet.
She then sailed 440 miles to Swansea singlehanded before climbing Pen Y Fan, almost 3,000ft high, in under four hours with the help of a special walking frame.
Natasha was supported by a small crew of experts plus her mother Amanda, father Gary and younger sister Rachel.
Following the climb, Gary said: “I am incredibly proud – I’ve always been proud of her.
“You can’t put it into words seeing her succeed like this, you can’t buy it, it’s just incredible what she can do.
“The determination she has, and the sheer guts... I’m so proud.
“For her to walk with this walking frame to the top of a mountain is absolutely stunning. Almost 500 miles getting here in a sailing boat and then climbing a mountain is not bad at all.”
The money she has raised will be donated to the Ellen MacArthur Trust, which helps young people recovering from cancer, the RNLI and the RYA Foundation.
