Sanders Sails have won the Gold Roman Bowl in the Round the Island Race for an astonishing fifth time in 6 years. The overall winner for 2007 was Edward Donald's Nordic folkboat, Madelaine', which is converted to the IRC rule specifically for this annual race. Madelaine' has a considerable reputation in this race, having come second overall in 2003 and 2006 and third overall in 2004.
Sanders Sails have powered Rosina of Beaulieu', Jeremy Rogers' Contessa 26 to win the gold bowl no less than 3 times, with Whooper', a 1939 Laurent Giles design, winning in 2004 to make up the five wins.
Accolades to Sanders Sails from two winning owners in as many years, have been included in the winner's speeches and this year Edward Donald stated, "The sails are perfect and the boat has gone like a rocket since we switched to Sanders Sails." Last year, Jeremy Rogers was delighted with the service and wrote, "The winning decision was made three days beforehand for the Round the Island Race, when we ordered a lightweight, floater spinnaker from Peter Sanders. Peter rose to this very short notice challenge and had the sail ready for us by Friday night. Without it we'd never have made the tidal gate at the Needles on Saturday morning."
In addition to the winning boat in the 2007 JP Morgan Asset Management Round the Island Race, Sanders Sails also achieved third overall with Sundowner' owned by Joel Hutchinson. Further scrutiny of the results gives Sanders first overall in four divisions, as well as winning the Contessa 32s with Spirit of Taranto', the Nordic Folkboats with Svenja', the National Sonatas with Scherzo', the Nicholson 35s with Trutz' and the Trapper 300s with Google Eye'. An astonishing success story in the results Role of Honour!
