SAM Davies had double the reason to celebrate rounding Cape Horn after being awarded an Honorary Membership of the Royal Southern Yacht Club.
The club, based in her home town of Hamble, called the 34-year-old with the good news just as she passed the Horn, one of the most significant landmarks in sailing.
Club Commodore John Beardsley said: “The Royal Southern is proud to welcome such an accomplished yachtswoman to the fold and wishes her all the best in completing the Vendée Globe race.”
