IT is a gruelling 125ft climb that offers some of the best views over Southampton.

Now a sailing charity has issued a challenge to Hampshire residents – to scale the mast on one of their illustrious tallships.

The Jubilee Sailing Trust is on the hunt for 50 brave climbers to take on the challenge of reaching the top of the mast of their 210ft vessel Tenacious. Participants will be asked to raise a minimum of £150 for the charity, which helps disabled and able-bodied people discover and enjoy sailing.

The mast climb, being held on May 10, comes as the charity launches its Challenge 800 campaign to get 800 people to help raise £800,000 in 2009.
