WHILE most 17-year-old girls are partying and studying for exams, best mates Milly Pascoe and Carolina Sandbrook can be found indulging a slightly more exciting pastime.

The pair are hoping to whip up a storm on the water after forming the youngest all-girl racing crew in powerboating.

Milly and Carolina, both students at Peter Symonds College, Winchester, will be taking on some of the top powerboating talent in their 16ft Thunderbolt powerboat, capable of speeds of up to 60mph. The pair have had training from the best – Milly’s dad is powerboating champion Mark Pascoe while mum Fiona has managed top-flight racing teams for more than 25 years.

And they have been snapped up by all-girl extreme team Girlracer.

Milly said: “I’ve always been into racing because of my parents. I used to race in the kids’ class but then gave it up for a bit.

“Now I’m back with a vengeance!”

Carolina added: “I’m really into watersports so when Milly said she was looking for a crew I jumped right onboard.

“Our friends don’t believe us when we say we have started racing powerboats together.”

The pair are now hoping to follow in the footsteps of fellow Hampshire powerboat champions Shelley Jory and Sarah Donohue.

Hamble-based Sarah, a former European offshore and American national champion, said: “Until now there has never been an all-girl team like this one.

“They are so incredibly young, and at a time when many teenagers are studying and going to parties, Milly and Carolina are finding a balance in studying and racing.

Milly and Carolina’s first big race will be at the Adrenaline Coast Festival in Penmaenmawr, Wales, on June 20.
