THE RYA Volvo London Dinghy Show is a must in any yachtie’s diary – and the Daily Echo has teamed up with the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) to offer our readers the chance to win tickets.
The show, in association with Yachts and Yachting and Suzuki, features more than 100 classes and 11,000sq ft of exhibitors to choose from, making it the perfect day out for the whole family.
New to this year’s show is the Skandia Team GBR Photo Gallery featuring stunning pictures of our Olympic sailors in action.
Back for another year is the Fitness Zone, where you can test your fitness levels against the elite Olympic sailors and pick up top tips on nutrition and physiology from the sport’s leading coaches.
National, European and World Champion Musto skiff sailor Richard Stenhouse will be sharing his top tips on perfecting your high speed sailing and boat handling, whilst Michael McNamara shares his secrets on preparing your boat for ultimate speed in the ‘Go faster tweaks’ session.
With speed in mind the show also gives you the opportunity to get up close to the ultimate sailing speed machine – Vestas SailRocket. Pilot Paul Larsen will be taking to the Volvo Main Stage to share the challenges and experiences faced by the SailRocket team in 2009 when they attempted to break the speed sailing record.
Visitors will also get the chance to hear from Steve Cockerill, author of the Boat Whisperer DVD series, about how to improve your posture and hiking without damaging your knees, the RYA’s Chris Watts will be providing all the information you need about mark rounding rules and tactics, and ISAF 2009 World Cup series winner Nick Thompson will share his top tips for sailing upwind.
The Daily Echo has ten pairs of adult tickets and five family tickets (two adults and three children) up for grabs for the show, held at London’s Alexandra Palace on March 6 and 7.
