Ellen MacArthur
DAME Ellen MacArthur is to fire the starting gun for this year’s Round the Island Race.
The inspirational yachtswoman will set the first boats off on their 55-mile circumnavigation of the Island at 5am on race day, June 19.
Dame Ellen follows in the footsteps of previous race starters Sir Robin Knox-Johnston, Olympic double gold medallist Shirley Roberston and celebrity gardener Alan Titchmarsh.
