BRITISH singlehander Pete Goss has less than 900 nautical miles to sail to the finish line of the Route du Rhum.

Goss was last polled in 14th position in the 44-boat Class 40 fleet racing from France to Guadeloupe.

One of only two Brits in the singlehanded race, Goss is best known for his mid-ocean rescue of Raphael Dinelli in the 1996 Vendée Globe.
