ADRENALINE junkies of the sailing world took racing to a new extreme yesterday.
Crowds at Cowes watched with amazement as the crew of Extreme GAC Pindar challenged a fleet of windsurfers to race against their high-speed Extreme 40 catamaran.
Their skipper, windsurfing fanatic Nick Moloney, battled it out with 13-time British windsurf champion Guy Cribb in three straight line speed races and was joined by fellow World Tour professionals, John Skye and the Isle of Wight’s Ross Williams.
All-round yachtman Nick said: “That was awesome – we were flying, but they were too and beat us 2-1. Considering we were doing in excess of 20 knots of boat speed, I was surprised how evenly we were matched.”
