The second race in the SWSA dinghy evening series got underway off Weston Shore in a steady South West breeze and warm sunshine. Following a clean start, the fleet quickly separated into two main groups with Bram Sengers in a 420 and Constantino Corbari in a Bosun, (both from Southampton University), virtually match racing the course. The 420 eventually pulling clear to take line honours and first place on corrected time.

Similarly, at the back, the two GP14’s helmed by sibling rivals Phil and Charlotte Smith sailed a close contest. In a dying breeze, Charlotte edged ahead to take 4th place with Phil sadly running out of time.

Mid-fleet, William Waddington in his GP14 General Panic sailed his own race to secure 3rd place, a big improvement on his 1st race result.

The SWSA dinghy evening series continues on Wednesday 3rd June. It is open to members of the 16 SWSA member clubs and to individual members of the RYA. For more information, please see www.swsa.org.uk.
