Hampshire racer Alex Thomson will start the Vendée Globe just two weeks after his campaign was thrown into jeopardy.
Thomson's yacht Hugo Boss II was holed by a French fishing boat as it arrived in Les Sables d'Olonne and doubts were cast as to whether the damage could be repaired in time for the start.
But following two weeks of constant work Thomson has confirmed he will be taking part in the race.
He said: "I have had so much help from the sailing community, specialists, local suppliers, other Open 60 teams, Team Origin and the local community here in Les Sables d'Olonne.
"It is fantastic that the boat is back in the water.
"I couldn't have got here without the support from everyone around me, and I will be forever grateful."
