SAINTS rounded out their Spain training camp with an entertaining 3-1 against Montpellier on Saturday morning.
Kamaldeen Sulemana and Tyler Dibling gave Southampton a two-goal lead before Wahbi Khazri pulled one back for the French side.
Taylor Harwood-Bellis soon headed in to restore their buffer at the home of UE Olot in Catalunya.
Sekou Mara saw a poor penalty saved with 15 regular minutes remaining, denying him a third goal in consecutive games.
Saints returned to Nou Estadi Municipal for their second behind-closed-doors friendly of the week, this time against Ligue 1 opposition.
Last season's top goalscorer Adam Armstrong was forced to miss the game through illness, while Ronnie Edwards and Jan Bednarek returned to the side.
Much like on Wednesday, Martin could be heard instructing his players from the sideline from the first minute to the last.
The boss will have been pleased with what he saw as Saints got off to a great start. They won a penalty inside three minutes when Sam Edozie was tripped in the box.
Kamaldeen stepped forward and saw a poor penalty saved by Benjamin Lecomte but he reacted quickly to race forward and stab home.
Edozie was unable to divert the ball goalwards two minutes later when Joe Aribo laid across an inviting cross.
The fast-paced action continued under the sweltering sun as Alex McCarthy recovered to scoop the ball behind for a corner after spilling an easy save.
The veteran keeper then made up for his near blunder by throwing his body behind an effort destined for the bottom corner.
Aribo and Flynn Downes typified what Martin wanted to see from his players in the first 30 minutes, constantly pressing to retrieve the ball.
Montpellier posed a threat, particularly in the wide areas, and were trice denied a first-half goal by the woodwork
The third occasion saw Arnaud Nordin smash a close-range effort onto the bar on 33 minutes just before Edozie mistimed an effort from Kamaldeen's cross.
Southampton doubled their lead just before the break through the impressive Dibling. The 18 year old raced onto Edwards' fantastic chipped pass before neatly finishing past Lecomte.

In Armstrong's absence, Dibling adjusted rather well to his new role. Martin could be heard praising the England youth international's movement off the ball.
Martin elected to make four changes at the break, introducing Harwood-Bellis, Nathan Wood, Sam Amo-Ameyaw and Sekou Mara.
Montpellier made wholesale changes and it didn't take them long to get back into the game. A well-placed Khazri free-kick beat McCarthy to cut the deficit.
Any hopes of a Montpellier comeback were soon dashed when Harwood-Bellis restored Southampton's lead two minutes later.
The defender climbed highest in the box to head Yukinari Sugawara's chipped free-kick delivery into the net.
Martin's charges remained in control of the game after he made further changes on 62 minutes. Goalkeeper McCarthy was the only man to play a full 90 minutes.
They were awarded a second penalty 10 minutes later for a trip on Amo-Ameyaw after he danced to the byline.
Mara stepped forward, hoping for his third goal in three games, but saw his tame effort saved easily by the Montpellier keeper.
Amo-Ameyaw continued to impress when he unlocked the defence for Joe O'Brien-Whitmarsh, but the young Irishman was caught between crossing and shooting.
Montpellier were gifted a chance to make it 3-2 in the final minutes when McCarthy handed over possession of the ball, but the attacker elected to dribble into James Bree rather than shoot.
First Saints XI: McCarthy, Sugawara, Edwards, Bednarek, Taylor, Downes, Smallbone, Aribo, Kamaldeen, Edozie, Dibling.
Second Saints XI: McCarthy, Bree, Harwood-Bellis, Wood, Manning, Charles, Alcaraz, O'Brien-Whitmarsh, Amo-Ameyaw, Robinson, Mara.
