SAINTS scored four second-half goals to thrash Portsmouth 5-0 in the south coast derby at Fratton Park on Sunday.

Meg Collett, Molly Pike and Rianna Dean added to Southampton FC Women's lead after an own goal had given Saints the lead in the first half.

Saints were utterly dominant against their rivals and have another fabulous south coast derby to remember.

Remi Allen made five changes from the team that lost 1-0 against London City Lionesses in the League Cup last time out.

Fran Stenson, Meg Collett, Tara Bourne, Freya Gregory and Rachel Rowe all came back into the starting lineup.

Hosts Portsmouth came into the game having failed to win a single game since earning promotion to the Championship last season.

They have started life in the second tier by conceding 17 goals and scoring just once in their five games.

Saints were without a game last weekend, meaning Allen's side had more time to prepare for what she described as a huge game.

That extra week of rest was evident from the start and they almost got off to the perfect start behind enemy lines.

Molly Pike raced in behind the Pompey defence but could only lift onto the crossbar - Lucia Kendall couldn't quite reach the rebound.

Rachel Rowe and Pike came close to opening Southampton's account in the first half before they eventually took the lead through an own goal, set up by loanee Freya Gregory.

The Aston Villa winger did brilliantly to drill in a low cross that was deflected in by Riva Casley

Saints quickly made it two after the break when childhood Saints fan Meg Collett raced through and fired in at the near post.

It was a brilliant moment for Collett, who comes from a Southampton-supporting family, on her south coast derby debut.

Saints continued to push for a third goal but Portsmouth's defence held strong to keep them at bay for the time being.

Portsmouth came close to pulling one back with seven minutes left of the game when Casley headed just over from a corner.

The third did eventually come for the visitors through substitute Dean, who continued her fantastic goalscoring form.

She fired into an empty net after Pike pinched the ball from Portsmouth's defender and slid it past the goalkeeper to Dean.

That goal marked the start of a rapid succession of strikes for Saints who soon added a fourth. Pike turned provider this time around having been teed up by Kendall.

Saints got in behind the Portsmouth defence, who totally capitulated at Fratton Park, with ease.

Unsatisfied with just one goal having come on from the bench, Dean made it five in additional time.

She timed her run brilliantly to race onto Pike's through ball before slotting past Eve Annets.

The former Spurs forward has taken her account up to five for the season having struggled with injury in her first season at Southampton.
