AFTER an absence of several years my wife and I decided to go to the cinema. We arrived at the Multiplex in Ocean Village, obtained our tickets and were shown to the relevant waiting area.
The auditorium was clean, functional but quiet. No music, no lights, nothing.
The trailers when they arrived were overpowering. A 10ft high image of Cozette’s face has convinced both of us that this year’s ‘most celebrated musical experience’ will be best viewed in the comfort of our own home when it comes out on DVD or an expensive trip to the theatre when the show comes back.
Going to the cinema used to be exciting, something to look forward to, the foyer bright, colourful, buzzing with anticipation.
The film we saw was equally depressing. The famous cast and director moved the thin plot slowly towards its inevitable conclusion. Such a waste of talent!
