I HAVE read your article regarding the Liverpool Pathway Care (LPC) in the Saturday Review.

Having just lost my husband to cancer, my family and I had the LPC for him in the last few days of his life.

If anyone says this is back-door euthanasia they are very wrong, because when anyone gets to this stage in life they are unable to eat or drink, so the only thing you can do is to moisten their mouth every half an hour.

No way would I allow anyone to say anything against the doctor or district nurses who cared for my husband as the care was above and beyond excellence.

The only thing I feel is they need more palliative carers.

So if anyone has anybody who needs that help and wishes to stay in their own home I would say the journey is hard and heart-breaking but the help is there and the LPC is not a back door solution.
