BEING a lifelong Saints supporter, now living in Australia, I was delighted to be able to watch my team on TV with friends and family on my Christmas visit home.
In addition to seeing the team put on a good performance nearly beating Arsenal, for me there was an additional bonus. There were three legends at St Mary’s. Terry Paine, who played over 800 games, Matt Le Tissier, voted the best player ever by the supporters, and Mr Lawrie McMenemy, the most successful manager in the club’s history (I was there in 1976).
It would have been great for the supporters if all three had been on the pitch before the game.
Up the Saints! I am sure we will be alright in the Premier League – I’ll keep watching from Down Under!
