IN response to MRS Veronika M Davis on “God’s laws”
(Letters, January 8) I have to raise a serious question. If there is a divine being he, she or it can end all of this conjecture and confusion in an instant – by revealing themselves.
Which scripture should we take as the “word” of God?
Again a serious point, because of the numerous differences even in the Biblical and Koranic publications.
How do we know that mankind has not changed the “word” to suit their own ends? This is not just an ecumenical conundrum but a historical one: Henry VIII did change the UK’s religion to suit his marital desires.
I myself am an atheist, but I’m quite happy to be tolerant of other’s standing and opinion as long as they do not damage or harm others.
For me, even as a heterosexual man, I do feel that samesex marriage has to happen. Marriage is not just about children. It is a legal contract first and foremost.
