WE must certainly do something about plastic bags.
I would like them banned completely.
Some supermarkets, i.e. Lidl, do not use them.
They should not be on the counter for general use.
Perhaps if they were out of sight and people had to ask for them, and pay, it might deter some at least.
Each week when I am in Sainsbury’s, I am appalled to see people with large trolleys full of orange bags – frequently 20 or more.
Have these people never heard of a shopping bag?
If an assistant starts to put something of mine in a bag I ask her to remove it.
Large shopping bags are not expensive, we purchased two from Lakeland about six years ago.
We carry them in the boot and they are now a little shabby, but still very strong.
