I AM unsure about what the role of Simon Hayes, the newly elected Police and Crime Commissioner, is. Nor am I sure what benefit it is to the public when I read he is under their control.

I thought he was appointed to replace the Hampshire Police Authority, which in my view at least has failed miserably. I wrote to him asking to have a meeting to discuss matters of real concern to me but without success. George Hollingbery MP when I asked him about that said “Simon Hayes is very busy preparing the new police budget”.

Has anybody else had a chance to have their say other than by tweets or is what George Hollingbery said to me the truth? “If you are not happy with the PCC he can be voted out at the next election”.

Very good. A cardboard cut out would be a lot less expensive and just as useful it seems to me.
