I REFER to the front page article about my next door neighbour having her dog taken away from her.

I wrote to the Labrador Lifeline Trust on October 19 - two days after Luna was taken away from Ms Hughes giving full details of how long I have known Ms Hughes and how well treated Luna was.

I have never received a reply to my letter. I think it is dreadful that a "trust'' can take away someone's animal due to "the dog being overweight and claws too long''.

Ms Hughes has never been given an opportunity to appeal to the trust and the trust has been very heavy-handed in the way they have handled this matter.

Luna has been in Ms Hughes ownership for over two-and-a-half years.

Luna was taken everywhere with Ms Hughes. I understand that Ms Hughes is doing everything she can to try and get Luna back - even if it means taking the matter to Court.

After reading that article on Saturday November 18 I saw another article in the Echo on Monday, November 20 where another dog has not been given back to the "owner''. I wonder how many more stories of heartbroken owners will crawl out of the woodwork!
