I switched my radio on at 11am on Sat 18th Nov and was very disappointed not to hear the gardening programme. It has been my wont to listen for at least two hours every Saturday morning. Then I recalled having heard about changes at Radio Solent.
Their loss of listeners will not be recouped by trying to appeal to young people. All the younger people I know have never tuned into Radio Solent or are likely to. Sadly their clientele will dwindle still further as I feel they are like myself, mostly senior citizens.
The axe should have fallen on Mia Costello not on the well loved presenters who have contributed so much to Radio Solent.
PS: All my radios have been tuned to Solent, what now?
