I HAVE just seen the awful news that Lymington Birth Centre is closing. This is a terrible blow for mums-to-be who would have or have had their children at the centre.
I have had four of my five children at the unit and I can honestly say I received the best care possible. It was nice to have the midwife see me at home; it made me feel a lot more at ease. Also no matter what time of day or night they were always there if you needed them.
If Lymington Maternity Unit had not been there I would not have made it to Ashurst as my youngest son was born in three quarters of an hour. It takes nearly that long to get from my home.
Have the people closing these centres thought of the problems this could cause, not everyone has transport? I am very upset and disappointed at this news and I am sure other people feel the same.
