I DON'T see what all the fuss is about when it comes to the expansion of Southampton airport.
Living under the flight path myself I'm rarely disturbed by the aircraft noise, and I'll tell you why, Southampton is a small airport in comparison to others around the country and that means the aircraft are a lot smaller, which also means they pollute a lot less too, a majority of the aircraft are powered by propellers!
Even the Echo has printed stories about how expansion plans will not be so large that jumbo jets will be arriving at the airport.
I doubt very much that the people who are complaining will give up their cars, which are just as big a polluter that the plane, and they will also be the first to complain when this convenient little airport can't offer as good a service due to restrictions, and they have to drive themselves up to Heathrow.
