A RECENT government survey concluded that every great city needs a university and an airport. It seems to me that we would be proud of our city, its universities and the airport. They put us on the map.
Recent critics of the airport's expansion plans should consider the implications of no local airport. They would have to join the crawl to Heathrow and Gatwick, clogging the desperately overcrowded roads even more and generating more environmental damage in doing so.
What a great local asset I say. I enjoy the ease of travel that the airport provides. I'm sure some of its critics do as well.
Keep flying high Southampton International Airport, we're proud of you.
