WITH reference to the letter (Echo, June 3) about the litter at Ower service area, I often have met drivers at the lorry park to hand over documents and the litter problem is truely appalling.
If I have to wait for any time for the truck to arrive I often see rats in and around the wheeled rubbish skips in the lorry park area.
The other problem is that car drivers buy the food at McDonald’s and then park in the lorry park, taking up vital parking space for lorry drivers, who are legally obliged to take their tachograph breaks.
I have occasionally asked car drivers to move to allow an articulated vehicle into the park and usually get an abusive answer. The debris from the “meal” is usually dicarded on the ground, as the offenders drive away.
I am unsure who is responsible for the service area, but it needs supervision to stop the litter and prevent misuse of the lorry park.
ALAN BIGGS, Dibden Purlieu.
