MARTIN Heath tells us (Daily Echo, June 3) that wind farms are one of the cheapest forms of energy. What utter nonsense!

They are anything but efficient as he states. They may turn 70 per cent of the time but because the wind is unpredictable, they just cannot store the energy they produce when windy, which is negligible.

He says oldfashioned power stations produce much CO. Is that why Germany has just embarked on a project of building many coal-fired stations?

I don’t know the true number of people that oppose on-shore wind farms but it’s time the public were told the truth about the fact if we keep closing our power stations and rely on such things as impotent wind farms, the lights are going to go out.
