A fortnight ago the mother of my daughter-in-law had a very bad fall in Southampton, resulting in a chipped front tooth, split lip and numerous bruises.
She is a lady not in the best of health, so a complete shock to her system.
This fall happened as she was approaching Waterstones the bookshop in WestQuay, due to walking on a paving slab that wobbled, and on moving forward the next one did the same causing loss of balance.
The state of the pavements as you walk through the city centre and roads leading off are a disgusting state, with paving slabs that move when stood on, uneven ones and gaps between slabs which can be dangerous to anyone using a walking stick or women with a slender heel to their shoes.
I have said many a time to my family “an accident waiting to happen” and now it has.
MRS DAWN VOLLER, Locks Heath.
