ONE of the joys of the weekend is an early morning walk on Southampton Common, pictured.
But not last weekend as the bottom field was awash with litter.
Plastic and glass bottles, cans, boxes, discarded plates, knives, forks, food wrappers, the so called disposable barbecues leaving scorched grass behind. What a tip!
When did we become such a litter loutish nation? Thanks to the lone council worker who was attempting to clear up. What a depressing job that must be! Most of us enjoy a picnic – we don't need to ruin our environment in the process.
