MY husband and I decided to celebrate our 55th wedding anniversary with a nice meal at an old haunt in Southampton.
It was around 7pm when we arrived by car and proceeded to look for an accessible parking space – we both hold blue badges.
We parked in the High Street in what we thought was a disability space. We could have parked on double yellow lines but we didn’t.
On our return there was a parking ticket on the windscreen. We investigated more thoroughly and found that there was not two disabled spaces – one was and the other was a for ‘CAR CO ONLY’.
We thought it was exempt in the evening so we had our blue badge up. Well done Southampton Council.
You have truly put us off ever visiting that area again and yes we have to pay £75.
What a farce!
