I OBJECT to the planning application regarding development of the former boating lake site at Southampton Sports Cente.

I suggest we develop a rockery-like hill. It could be landscaped with seating for all ages. It could have a water feature, water is on hand there. There could be a mazelike hedge path, perhaps with crazy paving slabs, small shallow ponds with water plants. It could also have paved pathways for invalid vehicles.

I visualise it rising to a height in the middle to make it look scenic. Its maintenance could be quite low.

It’s just an idea. I don’t think a return to boating, as much as I loved it as a kid, is viable. It already has been proven to be a financial liability. And security would have to be in place at a boating venture.

Hope this suggestion helps the committee as an idea.
