READING Your views letter on bus passes, I feel it only right to feel sorry and upset about the poor pensioner who has to pay an extra annual fee for bus transport due to early morning work commitments.
I am sure the 2.5 million jobless will be crying in their breakfast after reading your sorrowful story. I always thought the meaning retired pensioners means retired and not starting work before 9.30am, when the concessionary pensioner passes start.
I am sure a lot of elderly retired pensioners, who use the concessionary passes for shopping and day trips would be willing to contribute to keep the bus routes viable to operate, but the majority have paid a lifetime of tax and national insurance contributions, to allow them a little free travel in their old age.
