AS many of your readers know, the state of the roads around Southampton is a disgrace.
My favourite is Redbridge Hill to the junction with Wimpson Lane. Have you tried it? You lose count of the number of potholes. In fact there are more potholes than road surface!
How fire engines and buses fare is anyone’s guess.
What about the motorist?
Would the city council be prepared to meet the cost of repairs to their cars?
Somehow I think not.
One day there is going to be a serious accident along this section of road, then what?
Last week, the highways department decided to fill in several holes, that was it.
They did not touch any other holes around them. Next week they will maybe fill in several more. They will then carry on until the road is finished, then start all over again. Where is the logic?
Think of all the cost and time and labour. Surely it defies logic.
Why can’t the highways department completely resurface the whole road?
Surely this would save on time, labour and, most importantly, costs.
Once done properly it should last for many years.
Is this too easy for those in power to think of ? Does one hand know what the other hand is doing? It’s about time the city council and highways department got their acts together.
Come on, please make the motorist a bit happier. Do we not pay enough for driving on our roads?
