I AM going to show my age by recalling that street lighting used to be turned off from between 10pm and 11pm each night in towns and cities.
Pubs closed at 10pm or 10.30pm on a Saturday, nightclubs at 11pm. The only real Sunday trading was the newsagent, and catering which had restricted hours. Sunday was a day off. If you were out at night, then you carried a torch.
The question has to be, why are people out so late to need all the street lighting?
Think of the money you would save by staying in more.
RICHARD GRANT, Burley.
