What a hard act to follow for whoever takes on the role of new Chief Executive of the General Hospital (Echo article “Farewell to a Strong Chief who Turned Hospital Around” on June 29).
As one of the local councillors who represent the area which the General Hospital shadows, I have had the privilege of meeting Mark Hackett on numerous occasions in regard to local issues.
Mark’s friendly welcoming approach and open door policy was always appreciated, he was truly interested in the surrounding neighbourhood and very aware of the impact (good and the bad) the hospital had.
With his busy schedule he always made time. Mark facilitated in solving a lot of community issues always looking for answers particulary to overflow hospital parking, aiding by adding new staff car parks, but never completely solving the on-going predicament of hospital parking.
Good luck and thank you you really will be a hard act to follow.
Councillor Don Thomas, Coxford.
