IN response to the letter printed on Wednesday, July 3, ‘Beware this possible insurance scam’.

I, too, was involved in a similar incident in June 2012 in Winchester Road when a female driver of a V-reg Matiz deliberately slammed on her brakes after holding up the traffic and taking offence to me disputing this by beeping my horn.

The Ford Ka I was driving crumpled even though I only hit her car doing no more than 5mph, again due to a safety feature, and she claimed a total of £7,500 from my insurance company for her car being “written off” and socalled whiplash injury.

The police said she would claim this and the courts would agree in her favour.

She also called out the emergency services (well planned) who also agreed it was all put on.

Until the Government does something about the increasing claim culture in this country more and more people will fraudulently claim for these outrageous amounts of money and our premiums will carry on rising.

So yes this person is not the first or last to experience this rising problem of insurance fraud.
