I ALWAYS appreciate other people’s viewpoints, but PD must have a magic rear view mirror to be able to see the middle lane when my rear view mirror is filled with a great big lorry close up my stern.

We all know of the fatal blind spot of the wing mirror which loses sight of the overtaking car as it draws alongside you.

But if I’m doing the legal speed limit, why would PD want to pass me? I would add that if I am going under 70mph and see a car coming up fast I will always try to pull into the inner lane, as – like a Spitfire pilot – I constantly check my rear view.

As to a lack of experience, I am 80 years old and have a clean driving licence and maximum no-claim bonus.
