I WANTED to express how awful our emergency service is. I’m not saying how awful the staff are – it’s the Government’s fault due to all these cutbacks.
I am a first aider, and recently a lady was laying on the floor bleeding quite heavily.
I went over to her, with our works first aid box. There was a lovely lady from another local business and a colleague of mine.
The lady had tripped over (she was a senior citizen) and her nose area was bleeding quite heavily.
I sat behind her and helped stop the bleeding. We kept her warm and I tried to keep her and her husband calm.
What completely stunned me was that there was no ambulance available! When we called 999 it took over 40 minutes for a first responder to arrive. How disgusting!
The man that did arrive was very friendly. According to the 999 service all ambulance crews were dealing with other emergencies.
I can only put this down to all these extreme budget cuts.
Yes I agree budgets need to be cut but for this to happen in 2013?
What a joke!
The poor lady needed to go to hospital and the first responder in his car ended up taking her, which I appreciate wasn’t ideal as she couldn’t lay down. However with no ambulance what can you do?
The Government needs to get its priorities right. What makes me laugh is a friend of mine is a live-in carer. The patient’s sister, who is working full-time, has just claimed over £100 for the patient’s birthday party – for food etc. What a joke.
I am glad we have our priorities right. Not! I know where I would prefer my £100 to go.
I pass on my love to the lady I helped. I wish you a speedy recovery.
