MOST of us enjoy the great outdoors, especially in the current run of fine weather that we are experiencing.
Our parks, local beaches, the New Forest, are all having a greater number of visitors enjoying what they each have to offer.
Why then do those same people persist, on their departure, leaving all their picnic rubbish, including disposable barbecues, bottles, cigarette butts, cans etc behind?
They brought it with them, so why can’t they take it away again.
Who do they expect to clean up after them?
No doubt these people would be most put out if they returned later to find rubbish still there spoiling their picnic site...or would they?
It beggars belief as to how lazy and inconsiderate people can be.
Britain must be rated as the pigsty of Europe!
Fortunately there are cleansing teams that do clear up others’ mess, but at a great annual cost to local taxpayers.
I would rather see that money spent on other much-needed community projects.
Policing won’t necessarily prevent it. Only changing attitudes might.
RICHARD A JACOB, Shirley.
