JOE COX, of the Green Party (Letters, July 3), writes of a (mythical) “rise in sea level” due to (imaginary) global warming caused (supposedly) by our industrial civilisation.
This is one of the many prophecies of doom peddled by the Green movement and its acolytes in academia.
Green science has detected “a rise in sea level”, which remains invisible to the naked eye.
Subsiding Venice stays defiantly above the waves, as do the low-lying Maldive Islands in the Indian Ocean, both defying stale Green prophecies of their doom.
A rise in sea levels did occur in the Medieval Warm Period from AD1050 to AD1300, when the North Sea spread deeper inland into the fens of Cambridgeshire than it does now.
That was long before the Industrial Revolution created our industrial civilisation, which the Green movement wishes to dismantle and destroy.
There were even vineyards in Yorkshire in the Medieval Warm Period. It was far warmer then, long before the Industrial Revolution, than it is now.
