YOU published a letter from Mrs. D. Wood, where she states, I wrote that the Queen does not pay tax.
In my letter, I said ‘the ( Royal Family) should be self-supporting and pay taxes”.
I did not say, none were paid.
Having said that, the Royal Family are exempt from many that you and I have to allow for, including inheritance tax. And then they still do receive monies from the ‘public purse’!
All the while, they receive a fortune from land and properties, owned in their name.
The contributions they do make are voluntary, and not at the same rates as the rest of us have to stump up.
I do get annoyed when readers make a reply to an letter I had published, then twist the contents by making out I had written something else.
RICHARD GRANT, Burley.
