I REFER to the letter (Letters, July 9) from “Name and Address Supplied” castigating UKIP MEP Nigel Farage for drinking and smoking and referring to an earlier letter of July 3 written by Sam Snook suggesting Farage was therefore not a suitable leader of the party.
What absolute drivel! The same can be said of all the current party leaders – smokers and drinkers or otherwise.
I would remind these two correspondents that the greatest Prime Minister in our history – Winston Churchill – enjoyed both drinking and smoking and it did not in any way seriously affect his judgement in the long term.
Many current politicians enjoy a smoke and a drink.
Why on earth should they be taken to task for doing so? No legislation has yet been passed to say they cannot indulge in this way.
