IT IS way overdue for me to be permitted an answer to the article (In my view, May 18) by Albert Lauritz Rasmussen who mentioned my name and labelled me and my party, the UK Independence Party, as anti-Europeans.

He has obviously become confused with the difference between Europe as a continent and the unelected band of bureaucrats who now rule us from Brussels known as the European Union (EU).

I make no bones about my attitude and indeed my party’s policies on that score, but this surely does not make us all racists or anti-European, or for that matter antiforeigner in general.

We have no axe to grind with anyone, except of course with those who wish to change our laws and rule this country from abroad.

We are a sovereign nation and wish to remain as such, not one British citizen ever signed up or voted to join a superstate which has automatically thrown our borders open to all and sundry to invade us at will.

Albert Lauritz Razmussen admits to being an immigrant which would suggest he has come here quite legally, so I’m not certain exactly what he is trying to say or prove now he is here.

If he is not happy here I would suggest he does one of two things: the first would be to join UKIP and find out a little more about our policies, the second, to go where he would be happy!
