AS one gets older, there are some things which one reads in the Echo which reminds one of one’s past life.
Recently I read the article on Sway Tower which brought back memories of long ago.
Just before the war I was a very keen member of Highcliffe Scouts and in fact had worked hard and became a King’s Scout. Our troop was given permission to climb Sway Tower and to this day I recall this with ease because I hate heights and Sway Tower’s window openings frightened the life out of me – there were no frames of any sort, just openings at floor level as I recall.
It is wonderful these days to read about something surviving as this has, in these days of waste and a throw-away society.
