I WAS appalled to learn of the threatened closure of Cranleigh Paddock, an irreplaceable specialist dementia unit in Lyndhurst.
A decision of closure would be mindless destruction, targeted at the most vulnerable in our society.
Where is the duty of care here?
Cranleigh Paddock is a unique, ideally located, very accessible homely residence with pleasant garden areas. The elderly residents have advanced dementia of varying types and are excellently cared for by a devoted team of experienced carers.
With the ageing population and increasing incidence of dementia, such a specialist home should be treasured and invested in so that it can continue to provide the familiar and expertly caring sanctuary.
Do not allow the cruel transition of these very vulnerable elderly people, but fight for them, keep this family together and save their lovely home.
