MACMILLAN Support Collectors were in Shirley Precinct on Friday and Saturday, July 12 and 13, and in spite of the hot weather the shoppers gave generously.
Everyone knows the good work done by the many aspects of Macmillan Cancer Support to those whose lives are affected by cancer.
The nurses who help with their visited and in the Oncology Department, the grants to those whose income is impaired by it and the many hospices.
Over the two days we raised £761.18 and we are well on our way to beating last years total of over £7,000.
Our last letter in the Echo asking for volunteers has been very successful as several people have rung me and offered their services.
We still need people who are prepared to spend two hours a month with a collecting tin in supermarkets and shopping precincts. If you are of a mind to help please ring me on 023 80554238.
