I live in Bishopstoke and I would like to talk about our local MP Mike Thornton.
In their by-election literature the Lib Dems said that they were for “Protecting our Green Spaces” “Protecting our countryside”
and “Ensuring responsible development that protects our countryside”.
They say they have a record for “standing up for our green spaces”
and that “Mike has always enjoyed being in the countryside”.
I say that is now a broken record and a good job that he does not have to endure a whole term of office no longer having the countryside where he lives.
Less than six months after the by-election they are recklessly proposing encouraging and supporting widespread overdevelopment in old Bishopstoke on an initial two sites of outstanding natural beauty, I say recklessly because they seem to have a total disregard for the already overstretched infrastructure in Bishopstoke that would greet any new residents.
Current residents and neighbours could be forgiven for thinking that some people would say anything for their vote only to be tempted into a complete about face when opportunities arose for the Lib Dems on Eastleigh’s Borough Council.
IAN PEMBERTON, Eastleigh.
